Hear Dick B.'s son Ken "debate" the topic "Is A.A. Biblical?" on the May 14, 2016, episode of the "Up for Debate" show on the Moody Radio Network:

According to A.A. General Service Conference-approved literature, A.A. was and is based on a biblical foundation. Here are some examples:

A.A. cofounder Dr. Bob stated: ". . . [W]e [Dr. Bob and A.A. cofounder Bill W.] were convinced that the answer to our problems was in the Good Book. To some of us older ones, the parts that we found absolutely essential were the Sermon on the Mount, the thirteenth chapter of First Corinthians, and the Book of James." ["The Co-Founders of Alcoholics Anonymous," 13 (item # P-53)].

Dr. Bob also stated: "We already had the basic ideas [of the Twelve Steps], though not in terse and tangible form. We got them, as I said, as a result of our study of the Good Book." ["The Co-Founders of Alcoholics Anonymous," 14 (item ‪#‎P-53)].

"When someone asked him [Dr. Bob] a question about the [A.A.] program, his usual response was: 'What does it say in the Good Book?'" ["DR. BOB and the Good Oldtimers," 144].

". . . Bill [W.] looked across at my wife [i.e., the wife of AA #3, Bill D.] and said to her, 'Henrietta, the Lord has been so wonderful to me, curing me of this terrible disease, that I just want to keep talking about it and telling people.'" ["Alcoholics Anonymous," 4th ed., 191].

Dr. Bob also stated in the last sentence of his personal story in the Big Book: "Your Heavenly Father will never let you down!" ["Alcoholics Anonymous," 4th ed., 181].
