Whether or not we see you on May 18-19, 2012, at the First 2012 North American Conference of the International Christian Recovery Coalition at His Place Church, Westminster, California, if you are a Christian leader or worker in the recovery arena, we strongly encourage you to make use of the following “old-school” A.A. spiritual tools, key pieces of “Conference-approved” Literature,” and current materials on A.A. history and the Christian Recovery Movement. All are easily obtained now. All are reasonably priced. Now is the time to get your copies!

1.      The Holy Bible. (Early AAs almost exclusively used the King James Version. Quotes and allusions in the Big Book come from this version. The New International Version is the most popular “Modern English” Bible version. And the Life Recovery Bible seems to be the most-used version in the many recovery circles.)

2.      Alcoholics Anonymous: The Original 1939 Edition, with an Introduction by Dick B., (Mineola, N.Y.: Dover Publications, 2011): http://goo.gl/gnIxw.

3.      Dick B. and Ken B., Stick with the Winners How to Conduct More Effective 12-Step Recovery Meetings Using Conference-Approved Literature: A Dick B. Guide for Christian Leaders and Workers in the Recovery Arena (Kihei, HI: Paradise Research Publications, Inc., 2012). You may download this important guide right now for $9.95 from the center column of the front page of the www.DickB.com Web site.

Other Resources Available to You at the International Christian Recovery Coalition Conference:

1.      We expect that a large number of the vitally-important A.A. General Service Conference-approved pamphlet, The Co-Founders of Alcoholics Anonymous: Biographical Sketches: Their Last Major Talks will be available at the Conference.

2.      We will also be featuring at the Conference the very important A.A. General Service Conference-approved book, DR. BOB and the Good Oldtimers. (This is the book that started Dick B. on his quest in 1990 whether A.A. had indeed come “from the Bible.”)

3.      We will also have available other significant A.A. General Service Conference-approved literature such as:

a.       The Language of the Heart;

b.      Alcoholics Anonymous Comes of Age.

4.      Dick B. and Ken B., The Dick B. Christian Recovery Guide, 4th ed., manuscript (2012).

5.      We are very happy to announce that Hazelden—one of our Major Conference Sponsors—has made available copies of the following titles they publish for display and discussion at the Conference:

a.       Bill Pittman and Dick B., Courage to Change: The Christian Roots of the Twelve-Step Movement.

b.      Bill W., My First 40 Years: An Autobiography by the Cofounder of Alcoholics Anonymous.

7.      Publisher-editor Tuchy Palmieri has generously made available for this Conference a number of books by or about the Oxford Group and Rev. Sam Shoemaker.

9.      We also expect to have other books and resources by participants in International Christian Recovery Coalition available at the Conference.
