Anonymous History – Fact, not fantasy. Alcoholics Anonymous History – Truth,
not fiction. And what a field day the psychoheretic writers are having with all
of these options—without declaring them as options. .What a field day anti-AA
psychoheretics are having with error, instead of truth! Not only a field day,
but an outpouring of vicious canards.
There are hundreds of thousands of Christians who have
recovered, been cured, and helped as active members of Alcoholics Anonymous,
Narcotics Anonymous, 12-Step Christian Fellowships, and Bible study groups in
all of these. In fact, there were hundreds of thousands of drunks, addicts,
derelict, and criminals who have “found” and are “finding” God by coming to Him
through accepting His Son Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Many through
evangelists like Dwight Moody, F. B. Meyer, Billy Sunday. Many through rescue
missions like those of Jerry McAuley at Water Street. Many through the
Salvation Army in the slums of London and the widespread outreach in the United
States. Many through the revival and conversion meetings led by Young Men’s
Christian Association brethren in New England. Many because of the Christian
upbringing and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ so often manifested and passed
along by the early A.A. Christian Fellowship founded in Akron in 1935. And many
from that date to this.
Shall you believe what a few, uninformed, propaganda
publicists are telling you about a “supposed Twelve Steps to Destruction,” about
an “all gods” recovery fellowship, about an alleged recovery society founded on
idolatry and spiritualism and freemasonry that never existed among the
Christians of early A.A. and their program and haven’t existed since that day?
Are you lonely? Are you frightened? Are you bewildered? Are
you depressed? Are you “controlled” by the devilish temptations shoved at you
through drugs and alcohol? Have you pondered “ending it all” in desperation?
I have been/
Almost 26 years ago, I was in the pit of alcoholic/addictive
despair and defeat. I was and am a Christian. I certainly had sinned in the
biblical sense. I certainly was lost, lonely, frightened, seemingly friendless,
seemingly defeated, sick, and seemingly without a solution.
As a Christian, I wandered into the rooms of A.A. I didn’t
go there to “find” God. I was already one of His children. I didn’t go there to
accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. I had already done that years back
while on a Bible fellowship trip to the Holy Land. I was simply trapped through
protracted excesses of drinking and sleeping pills and the trouble they and I
generated.
I came into A.A. worshipping no false gods, buying into no
nonsense “spirituality,” rejecting it supposed “not-god-ness,” and carrying no
prejudices against those who were active, present, helping, and encouraging.
Instead, like tens of thousands of Christians, I turned to
my Heavenly Father in that situation. I asked for His help in the name of Jesus
Christ. And, as declared in Hebrews 11:6 and Romans 10:9, I was rewarded
through diligent seeking. I have never since had alcohol nor sleeping pills,
nor the attendant addiction and trouble that go hand-in-hand with abuse of
them. I relied on God. I was cured. And I help others and have done so for
almost every one of the continuing 26 years of sobriety and health.
Do you want release from such bondage? Then throw away the
literature that tells you what’s wrong with A.A., its founders, and its
practices. Pick up the Bible, try First Century Christian Fellowship as the
Apostles and the early AAs did, and bring others to the solution that a loving,
powerful, forgiving God makes available to Christians and those who want God’s
help in and out of A.A. today if they
ask in the name of Jesus Christ, obey His commandments, and help others
come to a knowledge of the truth.
Not views. Not fiction. Not fantasy. Not confusion. Not
fear. Simply the deliverance from the power of darkness that God has made
available to those who want and diligently seek it.
Gloria Deo
